This is a fascinating little video about the connection between happiness and learning. I had no ides how new information connects with existing memory or that excitement releases neurotransmitters that allow learning to happen. I recently had a converstion with a teacher in middle school who was concerned with how students are unwilling, uninspired, and just generally bored in school. This video explains it perfectly. This generation of school age children is not at all excited about boring lectures and book content. Perhaps the first generation to be born in a completely digital age, they need the constant stimulation of phones, media, tv….motion. Today’s educational envirnoment lacks excitement and therefore children are not motivated to learn. I certainly don’t know the answer to the “new” problem, but can see how understand the perspective of the problem could/should drive changes in curriculum delivery to excite students.
