Famous Last Words - magnesium & house cleaning

This week flew by. I have been reading African - Nigerian unit tales and have thoroughly enjoyed the origin stories. I love the odd little tales and somewhat humorous explanations of why things are the way they are. Most of them involve animal characters, my favorite, and they make me smile in terms of simplicity and imagination.

I am super excited about my new studio art project. My “untethered” theme is going to be reflected in a gold painted styrofoam head. Half will be red modge podged magazine cut-outs and the other will have gold. I plan to utilize stick pins and somehow imagine using string to connect the pins. My styrofoam head is male, but I think I will add some female attributes because I think being untethered should also be freedom from labels. I did enjoy watching the HEART - learning challenge extra credit video titled “What We Share”. It is on EllenTube videos and provided added inspiration for this art project as well as a gentle reminder that we truly do have more as humans that brings us together than we realize.

I personally challenged myself this week. After giving advice to my mom, when she became upset with a situation, that she needed to “do something about it,” I realized I needed to also “do something about” a particular part of my life. Cleaning house in terms of stuff and people that no longer serve a positive purpose in your life is not only liberating, but shows me how far I have come in my journey.

My flu avoidance campaign is still effective. No flu or sickness. Although, a brief issue with magnesium taught me some lessons for the future. I am trying to sleep, wash hands, eat more healthy foods, and my goal is to integrate exercise into my normal routine. I am definitely a work in progress. Slow, steady progress.
